Number 8 on my list is the wonderful city of Boston. Located in the American State of Massachusetts, Boston resides along the eastern coast of America. Full of a rich history, there is plenty to sink your teeth into.
One main aspect of this history is represented in the form of the 'Freedom Trail'. This trail stretches throughout the city, featuring some of its most distinctive and historical features. The trail depicts the start of the American revolution, and is for the most part free for everyone to enjoy.
Another way to enjoy the rich history of Boston is to take part in the famous Boston Tea Party. Board the good ship Eleanor and step back in time to 1773 as you become part of the revolution. The Sons of Liberty historically dumped 342 crates of tea into the harbour on December 16th 1773 in political protest. At the end of this re-enactment, you can go for afternoon tea at Abigails Tea Room. The cafe offers affordable lunches, afternoon teas, and an unlimited supply of tea. I definitely recommend a visit as the prices aren't bad either.
The centre of Boston features the Quincy market. Like most of Boston architecture, the market is old. The building it designed much alike the architecture of Rome and Athens, with columns at both entrances. Inside you'll find a plethora of food stalls, serving everything from pizza to chowder, cakes to smoothies. This is the perfect place to get lunch, offering food choices for everyone.
If you'd like a break from history, my number one recommendation of what to do in Boston is to go on a Whale watching trip. Tours run daily from the harbour with Boston Harbour Cruises, and each trip takes around 3 hours and costs around $50. Although this price seems steep, it is definitely more than worth it. You get wonderful views of the city skyline as you leave the harbour, and the opportunity to see a range of whales including minke whale to humpback. On my trip I saw a pod of Humpback whales and several Minkes. One humpback breached for us over 20 times (As seen below in the photos).
